The First Tee of Monterey County

The First Tee of Monterey County’s mission is to impact the lives of young people in Monterey County by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.

The First Tee of Monterey County impacts the lives of young people by delivery of critical life skills based on Nine Core Values.

The Future Citizens Foundation, which does business as The First Tee of Monterey County, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The First Tee of Monterey County began operation in November 2004 and has its home base at Twin Creeks Golf Course in Salinas, California. The organization is a chapter of The First Tee, a national organization, launched in 1997 by the World Golf Foundation with founding partners the Augusta National Golf Club, the Ladies Professional Golf Association, the PGA of America, PGA TOUR, and the United States Golf Association.

The First Tee of Monterey County is the result of the vision of the Monterey Peninsula Foundation and its’ late Chairman, John Zoller. The Foundation recently honored John Zoller with the John Zoller National First Tee Scholarship for his lifelong contribution to the game of golf and in appreciation for his invaluable role in the establishment of The First Tee of Monterey County.
